Manu National Park is a cloud forest in the southern part of Peru, near Cusco. It is the largest National Park in Peru. The Park has one of the highest levels of biodiversity in the world because of its geographical location and it is home to over 1000 species of birds.


During this six-day trip you are going to experience the beautiful cloud forest with its wonderful flora and fauna. You will be able to see various bird species, monkeys, caimans, turtles and other fauna.  

Day by day:

Day 1  Cusco – Cloud Forest (bus and hiking)

After an early departure from Cusco, we will travel through the diverse Andean landscape. On our journey it is possible to spot highland birds. We will pass pre-Inca Lupaca culture burial towers before arriving at the colonial-era town of Paucartambo. This town is the gateway to the Manu forests and we will have time to visit the local church and the historic Carlos V Bridge. We will continue to the Acjanaco Pass, the official entrance to Manu National Park. You will spend your night in our comfortable Paradise Lodge.

Day 2  Paradise Lodge – Amazon Basin (bus, boat and hiking)

Before breakfast we will venture into the forest to observe the cock-of-the-rock as the males perform their daily ritual. After breakfast we will spend the rest of the day walking in the forest, in search of interesting birds, monkeys, mammals, plants and insects. Today there will also be time for a swim in the cool waters of a jungle stream. Later in the afternoon we will take the bus to the river port at Atalaya, where we will take a boat downstream to a local jungle lodge.

Day 3  Amazon Basin – Boca Manu – Blanquillo Lodge (boat and hiking)

After breakfast we will board our boat and head downstream to the village of Boca Manu. During this journey it is possible to see several species of birds, while the river is also home to caimans. We will continue to the Blanquillo private reserve, where you will have the chance to spot birds of prey. After dinner you are able to join the guide on a walk in the forest around Lake Blanquillo to observe caimans and enjoy the sounds of the forest.

Day 4  Blanquillo (boat and hiking)

Early in the morning we will walk to the macaw clay lick, an area of mineral-rich riverbank clay. We will watch several species of macaws and parrots gather in large numbers to feed. After breakfast we will spend one more day at Lake Blanquillo. Fauna includes giant river otters, caimans and turtles. There will be time to walk the nature trails around the lake and after dark we will board our canoes in search of nocturnal species.

Day 5  Blanquillo – Puerto Maldonado (boat and bus)

Today we will board our boat for the ride downstream to the gold mining village of Colorado. We will take our bus to Inambari River and Puerto Maldonado, where we will spend the night in a comfortable hotel.

Day 6  Puerto Maldonado – Cusco/Lima (plane)

After breakfast we will transfer by bus to the airport for the flight back to Cusco or Lima. If your flight is to Cusco, we will provide transfer from the airport to your hotel.
