Intro:

Ausangate is a mountain in the Andes of Peru, it´s situated around 100 kilometres from Cusco. During this 7-day trip we will hike through the region of Mount Ausengate. This region has various outstanding geological features.

Highlights:

With doing this adventurous trek you will be able to see the beautiful region of Mount Ausangate. Besides the beautiful environment, you will see hot springs, green-colored lakes, red-colored lakes.

Day by day:

Day 1  Cusco – Tinqui

We will leave Cusco for Tinqui at the foot of the Vilcanota range. Lunch and dinner will be served.

Day 2  Tinqui – Upis

After breakfast we will head for Huahuayocrumi Hill, which lays below the stone flanks of Mount Ausangate. After trekking for 5 hours, with time for lunch and pictures, we will arrive at the hot springs of Upis, which is our second campsite.

Day 3  Upis – Jatun Puca Cocha

We  will start our trek to Lake Vinococha via the Arapa Pass. At the lake we will enjoy our lunch. After a short walk we will arrive at the red-colored lake Pucacocha, where our campsite will be.

Day 4  Jatun Puca Cocha – Uchuy Finaya

After our breakfast we will trek through two passes today, Apacheta pass and the Palomani pass. The latter is with its 5,000mt/16,072ft. the highest pass of our journey. After this we will walk into a valley and end up at our campsite Uchuy Finaya.

Day 5  Uchuy Finaya – Qomer Cocha

Today we will go to the Valley of the Viscachas. Through a small community which is called Jampa, we will pass our final pass and walk to the Lake of Qomer Cocha where we will camp along the shore.

Day 6  Qomer Cocha – Pacchanta

Today we will hike through a valley to the hot springs of Pacchanta.

Day 7  Pacchanta – Tinqui – Cusco

After breakfast we will hike to the village of Tinqui, from where we will take our private vehicle back tot Cusco.
