Intro:

Patagonia is a region in South America, which is located both in Chile and Argentina. Patagonia is famous for its beautiful and diverse nature. The most southern part of the Andes mountains, lakes, deserts, and glaciers can be found here.

Highlights:

When going on this 11-day trip you will be able to see the highlights of Patagonia. You will see Punta Arenas, the gateway to the Chilean part of Patagonia. You will see Torres del Paine National Park, with its famous three towering mountains. On the Argentinean part of Patagonia, you will see the beautiful glaciers.

Day by day:

Day 1  Punta Arenas – Paine park

We will start our adventure with a drive from Punta Arenas to Paine park. On our way we will visit the Milodon Cave.

Day 2  Trek to Refugio Cuernos

We begin our treks with a walk through the Cuernos Trail, which leads us alongside Lake Nordenskjold and we will have the opportunity to view the park´s flora and fauna. The trek ends at Refugio Los Cuernos, located by the shores of Lake Nordenskjold.

Day 3  Refugio Cuernos – Refugio Paine Grande

Today we will begin the challenging trek to Valle Frances, along a steep trail that leads to the very heart of the Paine Massif. We will walk to the hanging bridge over the French River, which is located at the foot of the southeast face of the Massif. We will continue towards the upper part of the valley to watch the extensive mass of the valley´s geological formations: Hoja, Máscara, Espada, Catedral, Atleta de Tiburón and Fortaleza. We will end our trek at Refugio Paine Grande.

Day 4  Refugio Paine Grande – Ecocamp

From Refugio Paine Grande we will hike along the shores of Lake Pehoe to the northern side of the glacially beautiful Lake Grey. We will board a boat and sail right to the huge, crystalline façade of Glacier Grey. From the southern end of Glacier Grey, we will transfer to EcoCamp.

Day 5  EcoCamp

Today we will be completing the most famous trekking trail in Torres del Paine National Park. From the campsite on, we will walk towards Hostería Las Torres before ascending to Ascencio Valley. A steep moraine, a huge mass of boulders will lead us to that iconic base-view of the Towers – three gigantic granite monoliths. After a climb uphill, the Towers eventually come into full view. We will hike back to the EcoCamp.

Day 6  EcoCamp – Chalten (Argentina)

After we say our goodbyes to the local guide and EcoCamp staff, we will drive to Cerro Castillo village to cross the border with Argentina. We will drive through the beautiful landscapes to Calafate town, where we will meet our guide. After enjoying this town we will continue driving to Chalten town.

Day 7  Trek to Laguna Torre

Today we will do a full day hike along Cerro Torre Trail to Laguna Torre. This is a stunning mountain lake with majestic Mount Torre in the background. We will reach Base Camp de Agostini and from there we will do a short hike to Laguna Torre. Icebergs might be seen peacefully floating on Laguna Torre, as the wind pushes them to the coast. Later we will return to Chalten.

Day 8  Trek to Laguna Los Tres

Today we will trek to Laguna Los Tres, with a great view of Mount Fitz Roy, which is the landmark of Los Glaciares National Park. We will start by heading towards Laguna Capri, then we will follow the Fitz Roy Trail to Blanco River, after that a short steep trail takes us to Laguna de Los Tres. This is a turquoise-blue lagoon, framed by the Fitz Roy´s spires and glaciers. When we are ready we will hike back to Chalten.

Day 9  Chalten – Calafate

We will sail the Viedma Lake towards the Viedma Glacier, we will walk to the edge of the glacier and begin a trek on the ice. We will drive back to Calafate.

Day 10  Calafate – Perito Moreno

We will start our final excursion to Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the most famous landmarks in Patagonia. We will first go to the glacier´s less frequented north face, we will observe and hear giant chunks of ice fall into the waters of Lake Argentino. We will continue to the footbridges, enjoying the surroundings at our own leisure.

Day 11  End of the adventure

We will transfer you to the local airport of El Calafate.
