Lake District and Chilean Wine Region 12 days
Lake District is a region in Argentina. The region is situated in the Andes and has beautiful surroundings and villages. The Chilean wine region produces the best Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blancs. Besides, the way to Santiago the Chile takes you through amazing surroundings as well.
When going on this 12-day trip you will see the beautiful Lake District in Argentina and the Wine regions of Chile. You will visit small villages as well as the capital of Chile, Santiago de Chile.
Day by day:
Day 1 Bariloche (Argentina)
We will transfer you to your hotel on the shore of Lake Nahuel Huapi.
Day 2 Bariloche
In the morning you will enjoy a chairlift ride to the top of Mount Campanario. Here you will have an amazing view of the northern Patagonia and the Lake District. We will jump on our bikes and cycle to an idyllic creek side spot for a picnic lunch. After this, we will bike the gravel roads to the shores of Gutierrez Lake, where the transfer will be waiting to take us back to the lodge.
Day 3 Bariloche – Villa La Angostura
We will drive to Villa La Angostura, a small artesian village on the shore of Lake Nahuel Huapi, which is the largest lake in the region. After lunch, we will cycle out of town to the Correntoso Lake and Espejo Lake. At night, there will be a possibility to try local dinner.
Day 4 Villa La Angostura
In the morning there will be a possibility to walk through the magnificent surroundings or just relax at the at the lodge´s spa. Later in the morning we will board a catamaran and sail the Nahuel Huapi to the Quetrihue Península, from where we will walk back through the cinnamon tonalities of the Arrayanes National Forest.
Day 5 Villa La Angostura – San Martin de los Andes
In the morning we will drive along the Seven Lakes Road. We will crest Cordoba Pass and jump on our bikes to descent the road that leads through a dramatic desert landscape. After resting at the side of the creek, we will be transferred to a charming lodge near the town of San Martin de los Andes.
Day 6 San Martin de los Andes
We will bike to the Mapuche, commutiy of Quila Quina on the shores of Lacar Lake. After lunch, we will start canoeing/kayaking to Catritre Bay. From there, a van will drive us to San Martin de los Andes, which is a true gem among the Patagonian villages.
Day 7 San Martin de los Andes – Pucon (Chile)
We will drive through the Andes to Chile. Three volcanic sentinels will be welcoming us to Chile. We will cycle through the countryside and small villages until we arrive in the lively resort town of Pucon, where we will be spending the night.
Day 8 Pucon – Santiago
This morning you will have the chance to explore the town and artesian markets of Pucon. Early in the afternoon we will transfer to the airport to board a flight to Santiago de Chile. After our arrival in Santiago we will transfer to the hotel.
Day 9 Walking through Historic Santiago
Today we will explore some of the country´s main historic and cultural landmarks by foot. We will walk to Santiago´s colonial Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral and to the Mint, which is Chile´s current government house. We will go the the Mercado Central, where Chilean chefs go for fresh sea-food. In the afternoon we will drive east into Casablanca Valley, where we will stay the night.
Day 10 Casablanca Valley
There´s a cool oceanic breeze in the valley, which makes it perfect for some of the best Sauvignon Blancs and Chardonnays produced in the country. We will visit Matetic Winery, where we will taste their premium wines. In the afternoon you can enjoy one of the activities at the vineyard.
Day 11 Casablanca Valley – Visit to the coastal city of Valparaiso
In the morning, we will drive to Viña Emiliana, producers of organic wines. After this, we will visit the coastal city of Valparaiso. Valparaiso was historically the main port of Chile and is built on steep hills. We will board the funicular railways and wander through town.
Day 12 Afternoon transfer to Airport
We will transfer you to the International Airport of Santiago.
